A far cry from the estimated 50k-75k or more for 2009. There were probably 30k Camaros sold in the first 3 months of their release. Our pal Ridgerunner has one of the 153 B5 SRT8 manuals for 2009.

That is true Dave. All automatics. Of the 7k overall produced, only 708 were Silver. Hemi Orange and Brilliant Black were neck-to-neck in numbers as they remain to this day.

Sweet!!! Sounds very close to mine... 71 442 "tribute" (clone) 'vert, 455 Procharged with about 600 whp/wtq, built TH350, 3:73 10.5 rear, ram air hood but not air cleaner (couldn't use it with the Procharger anyway), black interior bench seat column shifter. Wheels are 1987 Olds 15" 442 wheels. Silver with black top and striping. Heck of a lot of fun till I cracked my block. Former owner of engine had apparently toasted it with NOS, didn't discover that until too late. :(

It's interesting that in 2009, about 31,500 Challengers were built, and in 1970, it was about 83,000. Some was due to the economy, but I wonder if we will ever see 80 plus thousand built in a year now.

We might if Chrysler'd advertise em. But I kinda like the uniqueness of them now. :D

Yeah, very unique. It's been over a week since I've seen one... I had to drive by a dealer just to get my fix.

You have to remember Dodge offered several trim levels as well as 7 engine and 4 trans combos (1970). You could get a basic slant-six manual that was affordable to most all the way up to a loaded big block or elephant. The present-day Challenger is offered in 3 trim levels with 3 engines and 3 trannys. Ours cars are more a niche vehicle now than ever.
