I was talking to a fellow Challenger owner at the show yesterday, and the subject of insurance came up. He has a HO '08 SRT8 and suggested Hagerty Insurance. They insure not only classics, but exotics and special interest cars as well. Just for fun, I went online and got a quote....$798.00/year. Zero deductibles and insuring my car for the selling price plus mods. Taking in the fact SF has gone up on me to the tune of $1300.00/year, no accidents/claims and I'm almost 52. I'm applying for a policy with them.

OK well, my application was shot down at Hagerty. My DD needed to be 5 years old or newer and they indeed had a unrealistic limit on miles (3500/yr). Sooooo......on to more research!

People complain about AIG (now called 21st Century Insurance) because of all the flap about the Feds bailing them out, but they've been good to me. I think their rates are reasonable and when I totaled my Mustang, they treated me very fairly and in a prompt manner.

I applied to Grundy and they accepted my application. I still have to send in the paperwork they requested along with a check for $534.00/yr. Jon, I did think to ask the nice lady on the phone about mileage limitations and she said there were none.I insured my car for 36k to include replacement and for the mods I've done. YAY! This lowers my Challenger insurance by more than half ladies and giraffes!

Been there sir. Also, Progressive, Geico, Farmers, Prudential, the list goes on. Ironically, they were all more than my State Farm policy that I felt was bending me over. I'm sticking with SF on my wife's Accord and my old F100 though.

Sounds like a good price. I have progessive and am payig about $1200.00 a year. I have it insured for $75,000.00 though. $500.00 deductable on collision and $100.00 on comp. 100k and 300k on liability. I will only drive it about 2000 miles a year or less I believe. Good information. Thanks for sharing, my policy is up in a couple of monthes.

Some have driving restrictions, others require that it only not be a daily driver. I haven't attempted to insure all of my vehicles yet, I have two non driven cars in storage. If you're military go USAA, always a great deal if you can get it. My new challenger was less than my prev dd 04 cobra. And it cost 10k more.

Got farmers for few years, combined house, two bikes, discounts. 1k deduct, $750 year. Learned some tricks years ago tho, garaged will give discounts, pleasure vehicle same( say u ride bus to work), 1st is true, second wasn't but that stuff sets rates, insured IS insured! If I HAD a wreck on way home/to work would have to say, well I missed the bus that day, hahaha! Found out when married, they use WORST driver in family, on most expensive car in family to set rates. But once insured, it covers ANY licenced driver!

I am sure that everyone is aware that insurances rates are different by state. Man, I am envious of some of the rates. Louisiana has had a lot of uninsured motorist and real good lobbyist.

Lot of good ideas here though, thanks!

Rates are even different by zip code.
