Flowmaster's or Magnaflow?

That is the question.... ok, I now have a stock R/T auto exhaust on my SE. Just glad to get it for the price I paid and to go get it, which was a days trip going and coming. Plus gas and a meal at Hooters for my son. lmao!!

As far as performance , I can see some difference inthe way the car runs now. (I pulled the #2 fuse to the PCM to reset so it will register my driving habits)

Now I want some sound. Yea I know, just got to have a little sound now.The guy who installed the system told me that when I got bored with that stock sound just come back and he would install dual Flowmasters for about $240.
I have a shop that we deliver too (I work at AutoZone) and they have Maganflow. They said they would install the Dual mufflers for $230.

The thing is, which would sound better with the V-6?

Some had said the Magnaflows. Others have said Flowmasters.

Any thoughts?

are you keeping the stock resonators? if so then i would think the flowmasters otherwise how about just removing the resonators out back and seeing out it sounds?
it might just be perfect with a blastin bobs resonator eliminator kit.
I was thinking about leaving the reso's on, they are the R/T stock reso. I just dont want to get the drone everyone talks about when the reso's are removed.

Dave,
can they be unbloted from the mufflers back so you can get an idea of whether there is a drone or not?
I had the opportunity to listen to a v-6 charger today. He told me who did the work and he also had JBA headers installed and a diablo and a CAI. So he had some $$$ sunk into his car. It had a pretty good sound, not really loud but it had a rumble. Something that I could live with. He had Magnaflow mufflers installed. After hearing this car today, I feel that is the route that I am going to go. The shop he mention is the same one that quoted me $230 for 2 mufflers installed. Plus it is one of the shops we deliver parts to during the day. Now I just got to save up the $$$ to get this done.

I went with one Flowmaster and a blastin bob resonator delete kit and I am very happy with the sound. I've got lots of compiments on it. I've also got man that hemi sounds bad ass! You should see the looks I get when I say it's a 3.5. Lol priceless :)

You can do a search on youtube for exhaust systems set up differently with the 3.5 engine. Some will tell you specifically if the resos are in or out and if they are using flows or magnas....take a look...

I've had both flowmaster and magnaflow and I promise you that you'll like magnaflow better lol, I guess I shouldn't say promise but I had a zr2 4.3 s-10 a few years ago and had flowmaster on it and it was loud and everything but didn't have a good sound to it, and it only lasted about a year before rusting and needed replaced. So I went with magnaflow and it made a world of difference. Everyone that heard it thought I dropped a v-8 in it. It's not as loud but is deeper and gets louder when you get on it. I now have a magnaflow on my f-150 and love it also. Great quality and sound.
Think you made the right call Dave, the baffled only mufflers ( Flowmaster, Cherrybomb)are extremely cabin noisy, I ran Cherrybomb for bout a year. The Magnaflow without the resos is quieter all around, but like any glasspack gets a little louder outback with age. I'll never understand why anyone would put a stock RT system on our SEs, the first thing I did (2cd week owned) was chop of that elephant resonator, the RTs have two of em!
I was thinking the Flowmaster 40 series or the Magnaflows I ended up using. The Magnaflows are a bit quieter and they are the better flowing of the two. Really, it's down to personal choice in the sound you want. With the MDS, I was afraid of having drone. My system was custom built by me, so there wasn't anyone to PM with questions about whether their system produced drone or not. Instead of fabricating an x-pipe, I decided to go the old school route of an equalizer tube.

Please check out Jones Exhaust Full Boars - better lower rumble at $39.00 @ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JEX-FB3041/

GHOST is the FIFTH car I have put these on (1975b 455HO TransAm / 1976 Corvette / 1982 Corvette / 1985 Corvette / 1989 Dodge Ramcharger Powerwagon

I really wish you guys would try them and quit paying $60.00 EXTRA PER SIDE for the Magnaflow NAME

Have I ever steered you wrong???

Screw what the crowd buys - buy what WORKS!!!
I like the sound of Flowmasters. However, if I already had a dual exhaust and was just replacing mufflers, I'd give those Full Boars a shot. They're so affordable, that it becomes a low-risk to slap those in first and see how they sound.
