Netbook upgrades

My lil netbook who I call Jr was in pieces today!
He is like a child to me BTW and though it hurt to see him in pieces I knew it was for the better.

He went solid today....... solid state that is!

I pulled the 160gb WD 5400 rpm drive out and installed a OCZ Summit Series 60GB drive. Man what a difference! I allready knew I picked a good drive but it has impressed me so far. Windows XP installed in about 20 minutes.

Now I am spending the time reinstalling all my corporate apps wich takes much longer due to their nature.

Oh and besides the speed part there are two more benefits well maybe more but there is less heat since there is no moving parts in the drive and the battery life just increased!!!

So no more :bigdamncomputer:

So now :bigitsabeautifulthi

SO put it on the laptop... :D
It makes a world of difference!! I have a Dell Mini 9 with a solid state drive and 2GB of ram, and it boots up Windows 7 incredibly fast. Waking from sleep mode is like 5 seconds, though going to sleep is about 10 or so.

I just need to get around to a HD LED hack - I hate that I can't tell when the HD is reading/writing.

On the same topic - sort of - I just used a hack to downgrade my iPhone back to 3.0 OS. I had the tethering hack installed and use bluetooth to get internet access on the netbook where ever I am through the iPhone.

Then I got all giddy when I saw the new iPhone OS and upgraded without thinking about my hack, and knowing that Apple would likely kill it.

I went through almost two weeks of withdrawals before I found a download of OS 3.0 and a hack that let's you downgrade. Life is now good once again. :D

I like this feature of Windows 7...... the touch capabilities. I have one PC running allready that is dedicated to just my home camera security that is touch screen.
I know... I so need a touch screen. I have too much now though... my grandson, who just started kindergarten, asked me "why do you have 5 computers"

To be fair... one is the netbook, one is the security cams, and he counted the two monitors on the mac as two computers, so I only have 4. And each one has a different OS.

Ther was no instructions..... I dont need no freakin instructions.....

I also did some weight reduction to the laptop... leftover screws

It really wasnt as hard as it looked.

THe worst part was trying to get a 160gb drive to copy to a 60gb.
Didnt go so well so I said screw it and installed fresh.
Good thing I have a buddy who owns a computer store and allowed me to be ther until 1130 tonight.

He left for a while and then came back infact.
Where are you cats from?? Windows 10 now playing, on 3 lap tops, 1 note book, and 1 tablet.
