I'm glad you're getting a catch can not just for looks. I wonder does BT make a red anodized one with black cat bone for the substrate....:bighappy:

what is the USE of a catch can - that one I am not familiar with (know what it IS - just not what it DOES)

The catch can captures the oil vapor coming from the crankcase via the PCV system. The vapor then reconstitute back into oil in the can. This is done to prevent it from going into the intake manifold, keeping the intake, valves, etc. cleaner.
Same concept as a moisture separator/filter on air compressors.
so this would explain the oily residue every time I clean my engine :)

I have seen the red one there too along with black and silver.:eek:ldtimer:

No, Ghost. it collects oil in the PCV system. Not externally. Yes BT does have an anodized Red one . They are a good bunch of guys.
I had purchased one but did not like the way my car ran with the Charger R/T intake air tube on it. The fit of the AIT sensor bothered me. I do have the fender mount but just have not installed it yet.
I picked up a red painted universal on ebay for 9.99 - I am going to tuck it away under the engine cover I am building
I talked to BT today and told them I was wondering about the hold up because my account says it was still processing. The guy went and checked and told me they were waiting for it to get back to them from color adnodizing. He told me it should be shipped by the end of the week. :thumbupleft:
Awesome!

according to tracking number it was in Baton Rouge yesterday, may get delivered Monday.
I need help from any SE owner who has put one on their car. I just cant seem to find where they located the friggen PCV valve so I can run the hoses!!! any help will be appreciated.
INSTALLED!!!!! :bigwhew:

took about 20 minutes to do, after getting those install instructions from the magnum forum. I used my own crankcase ventelation hose, cost me $5.50 at AutoZone. Following the instructions I cut the PCV hose and used the extender that came with the can and added some length to the hose from PCV to can. then cut a piece to fit from the can to the induction plenum. tights spots in both places for the hose to go, but my hands are not small either. No blood or busted knuckles.

only thing that will be a pain is taking the bottom of the can off to empty it, Not much room to turn the can. Just glad I only have to do that every oil change.

here is a pic of the finished job.

well, I was under the hood today just cleaning up some things and decided to check out the catch can. I took it off and low and behold it had about a table spoon of oil in it. So it realy works on the V-6 engines also. :thumbupleft:
All well and good Big Dave, but did you install your Diablo yet?!?!?!?! If so, what's your take on any improvements?

I changed my oil yesterday and checked the catch can. It had about 1/2" of oil in it. Now I do have one question....does it alos collect moisture that occurs in the system too? after dumping out the oil it had a slight creamy gunk at the bottom of it.

is this normal?
Really depends on where you are at. Yes it can have condensation as the oil vapors are hot and mixed with the cold air of winter, you may find the thin gray film that indicates water. In the summer months you will find this less prevalent but is still possible in high humidity areas. This is not a concern.
well I am fixing to go on a long trip this weekend and so I checked out my catch can to see how much was in it. I changed the oil about 2000 miles ago and looking in the catch can there was about 1/2 of oil in it. I guess that is a pretty good level for as many miles on it since the oil change.

I will be venturing to Pinson, Ala. this coming friday(VACATION!!!) and will be able to get a good reading on gas milage. If I can make it to Tuscaloosa or close to it then it will be at least a 400 mile tank fill.
