Sharing vendor experiences

I had a member suggest a "Vendors in the Doghouse" forum, where we can post bad experiences with vendors, to save others the headaches, cost, and everything else that goes along with dealing with a bad vendor.

So, let's hear your input.

FYI, I'm all for it, but would like more ideas and/or variations on the idea. I like to look at things from all angles and alternatives before making decisions... measure twice, cut once. ;)

Let's get some input on this.
good idea. seen it in others. don't know why it wouldn't work here. we need to know were we can good reliable deals and not get screwed.:nutkick:
Let's post good and bad experiences. If we had a bad experience, what if anything did the vendor do to make it right, etc. For the most part, my experience with forum vendors has been all warm & fuzzy.

I'm for it IF; Any post that is flaming a vendor is required to be followed up on with any satisfactoy handling of the complaint by the vendor. Too many people take every opportunity to slam a vendor and then never followup with a post when the complaint has a happy ending.

A post that slams a vendor should be removed within a week or two if there is no follow-up by the complaining member as to the status of the problem. JMHO

thats why i think vendors in the doghouse sounds good because you can always remove them if and when they make good.
sometimes putting a vendor in the doghouse is what it takes for them to make good though and then that also needs to be addressed.

since our site isnt beholding to any vendors as a lot of sites are we can at least be 100% honest without fear of lost sponsor dollars, some of the other sites as soon as you bash a vendor that is also a site sponsor they delete your post and admonish you for it whihc doesnt help other members in the long run..
I haven't forgotten about this :) I've been doing some thinking on it based on the two previous posts that both have very good points.

I understand that sometimes there are issues where the customer isn't happy, yet vendor isn't at fault - installed incorrectly or whatever. So I'd like this to be fair to so that the vendor isn't unfairly "punished."

I also like the idea of holding vendors accountable for poor products or service - which will benefit members.

I also would like to create a spot that will be the best place to get opinions on vendors when shopping around. Stay tuned... I'll have something up shortly.
OK. I believe we have a workable system.

There is now a Vendor Experiences forum.
All threads must have a prefix chosen when created. They are:
Bad Vendor Experience (In the Doghouse)
Bad Vendor Experience Resolved (Out of the Doghouse)
Good Vendor Experience

If an issue is resolved, the thread can be edited (by an admin or moderator) to change from "in the doghouse" to "out of the doghouse."

We'll see how this goes, and make tweaks as needed.
I'd like to encourage posting of good experiences as well - since most people will take the time to complain about bad experiences but never mention the good.

I understand the idea, but fortunately I have always received what I ordered. but not instantly. I have a general complaint with ANY vendor that debits your charge card before they ship under a guise that it is a special order when it is not. This is not legal. I am not talking about the performance shop asking for a deposit on a $5k blower. That is acceptable, however, charging your card for a back ordered Predator is not. I lucked out with a few of these small shops only to see them fade into oblivion in the next couple of months.
