I'll start.

Today - my first full day with the Challenger - after work I came home and mounted the oil catch can and the splash guards. As a reward to myself, I went out for a drive.

I went for a good long drive to nowhere. Mixed city and rural roads. Exercised the Challenger a few times ;) to burn off a few calories.

Now I am back in town, but on a 5 lane road with a 45 mph limit where most people do 50-55. I leave the traffic light down a about 1/2 mile straight-away and quickly reach the speed limit - if you know what I mean. So I am just enjoying the cruise, fiddling with the radio as I go around a curve..... and then I hear this strange noise that I've never heard before. It was my radar/laser detector telling me me I was in the cross-hairs of a laser weilding :pullover: standing outside an unmarked car in a gas station parking lot. I look down at the speedo, and I'm doing.......

about 5 under the limit. :neener:

I'll bet he thought he had one when he saw this beautiful muscle car coming around the curve. :nutkick:

I got pulled over and stepped out laughing. The officer had a puzzled look on his face so I told him 'Hey - it's a new car and a gorgeous day - whattya expect???" He let me off with a warning - 73 in a 60!! :D

Must confess I was a bad boy! Bought my car the weekend/Saturday of Labor day in 08. Drove to east Texas and back Sunday, to get some miles (250) on it. First bit of sleep that night! Next day was Labor day, all the local/state LEOs were down south of here, doing traffic for the evacuation of south Texas due to hurricane Ike. As I had traded a Hemi Rumble Bee, for this six cylindar, I really pushed/drove this car HARD, wanted to find the edge of the envelope! Man, I was a demon, spent ALL day running everything that moved, even from standing starts the six would eventually gain/pass them as it handles like a MG on steriods! With no cops around, and paper plates for the cameras, I was bad! Started changing the graphics/decals in my back window every few days, just in case, even kidded the manager where I had bought it that I had a rearwindow sticker that said" Drivin by Mike Bell", his name of course! Didn't put the real plate on till the paper ones had expired! Got a good radar detector by then also. So no tickets, learned how awesome these cars really are. So I made it till mid December, droped off a load of bills one morning after finally getting my FIRST retirement check, first in line round a blind corner, detector lights up, LASAR like to give me a heart attack!! 51 in a 30, neighborhood speed trap, when tactical pulls u over, your gonna get a ticket, no outs of it! LEO was ok, it WAS a clean cop for speeding, he said" guess it gets away from u kinda fast, eh?", I laughed and said," yep! And it's only a v6!" Had installed a Cherrybomb muffler, and this was a motorcycle LEO he said," Sounds GOOD for a six!" Soo anyway, did my penance in DDC, now I'm the FIRST one to the speed limit-every time! Partycovecaptain said I drove too slow when we cruised to Temple in Feb., I told him he was free to lead in that TorRed of his, I've paided MY dues LOL!

This was early last year. Cruising to a friends house in the country, a Pontiac Sunbird full of riff-raff kept getting up my a$$ and getting too close beside me gawking (you know the type). They seemed to be making a game of it, what with me trying to speed up and change lanes to avoid trading paint. So, do I show them my Kimber or do I leave these jokers in the dust? I choose the latter, and OF COURSE a State Trooper lights me up coming from the opposite direction. Got me doing 84 in a 65...
Nice man, we exchanged pleasantries, I was back on my merry way with a citation. I called a friend for help on it, the trooper was apparently in a good mood and it was summarily dismissed. I have it in my provenance folder LOL.

Was moving along in traffic, minding my own business with a cop in view a few cars ahead in a different lane when suddenly someone makes a right on red in front of me and drives slow enough in my lane that I have to hit my brakes. :fire:

I'm sorry but part of the reason why I own this car is so people don't pull that crap in front of me. They should know better than to pull in front of a big HO Muscle car!

Anyway, back to the story. I take it upon myself to school people in the etiquette of driving when the opportunity arises so I 'quickly' changed lanes to go around the fool and then 'quickly' got back into my original lane in front of the guy who just cut me off. That is when I notice I must of caught the attention of you know who in front of me :police: cause he started slowing down. I knew he did not get me for speeding and I signaled when I changed lanes so I kept on my 1 or 2 over limit MPH course. Sure enough, he ducks in behind me and hits the lights. :pullover:

I am thinking he must have not liked my life lesson I just dished out but what is he really gonna do.... Anyway, he asks where my front plate is. I tell him it's a new car and there is no place to put it on. He goes back and looks at the clean bumper and agrees. Says I should talk to the dealer about that, writes me a warning for no plate and sends me on my way!

Been driving it for about a year now and still no tickets! :rockout:

I've never been pulled over while driving, except on post, and stopped at the gate multiple times (it's how I learned that in Texas you apparently have to have a front license plate), but I've had plenty of close calls. Here's the closest though.

I had just bought my Challenger in December and decided I would cruise on down to New Orleans and back, show my friends what I had upgraded to from a Stratus. On my way back I was driving through Baton Rouge and had just crossed over the Muddy Mississippi going about 75 when I saw flashing lights tearing down the bridge and moving right up behind me. I figured the best place to pull over would be right after the upcoming off-ramp and so I flipped my signal, it was only about a tenth of a mile away. As I started to slow down and move off to the shoulder, I looked up again and sure enough, the cop had gone down the off-ramp. So I went on my merry way.

None in the Challenger as of yet, if fact, I have a pretty good little streak going. My last ticket was for doing 55 in a 45, in the summer if 1982. Nope, I'm not kidding. I think a lot of that has to do with what I do for a living. :)

"U can't post" cause what I do for a living", without telling everyone else here why"

C'mon sickr! If I do that, it'll open the flood gates for ridicule and abuse upon myself. See? Even you're laughing!

BTW, what can "Brown" do for you???? :shhh:

Eight weeks to the day after picking up my baby - 2010 R/T in brilliant black crystal pearl - I got nailed passing someone. Yea, I was probably an idiot and should have fallen back - but the things this car can do!!! The officer said he got me doing 55 in a 40. Now, since I was passing, I really don't know how fast I was going but I'm not going to call him a liar. Anyway, my record is (was) sparkling clean and he wrote the ticket for 5 over ($115 fine and 2 points). My cousin is a p.o. in the same city so I'm going to call him and ask if it's worth contesting. I have no problem paying the fine and court costs, but I do not like the idea of my already-high insurance premiums (I'm a single mom with two teens at home) going higher. I may have gotten more aggressive in the last couple of years (my previous car was a 2008 Charger SE Plus), but I'm a darned good driver (cop for a dad). *Sigh* I should have never gotten this car, but I absolutely love it!

Got a 2011 black SRT. Been driving since Dec 7, Pearl Harbor day, no tickets. Just turned 66 and my last ticket was when I was 25 and driving my 71 RT. Cop got me through a concrete overpass for 10 over, yeah right.
Had to be that green go color and them black R/T stripes, I must have been speeding... stripes make you faster, right!

FOP plate, FOP placard and Thin Blue line stickers pretty much nip that problem in the bud. :policered: I drive the speed limit anyway...:bigrolling:
