The placement looks correct. Somehow I recall it was lower (from my Dad's 1964 440 and 1965 Belvedere II). It was always kind of scuzzy because it was close to the splash zone. It would be interesting to get the measurements off a '70-'74 Challenger to see how close we are.
Where did you buy yours and how did you attach it?

I'll start with your measurements, when my BW finally comes in. I'm approaching week 9 of my order. Yes, the wait is unbearable.

the measurements came from my friends 71 challenger not this one but one like it
http://www.dodgechallenger.net/71Challenger_RT01.jpg since our fenders are slightly
different in design i used the bottom up and from door forward measurements to get it as close to a factory position as possible.

also FYI the pentastar was only used up until 1972 on all chrysler products, but from what i have read not all cars got one. its as if they put them on until the bins were empty and just didnt order more. so some 72s chrysler/plymouth/dodge cars may have it and some may not.

and yes depending on the model line the pentastar was in a different position

mine is a reproduction off of ebay with the mounting pin cut of and double sided 3m super trim tape put in its place.

ditto, I used 3m tape on ine also. and yes I have one on both sides, reason is I have heard that some models had one on both sides, not sure which. but I beleive in balance(the art teacher in me) so I placed them on both sides. hench the placement that is posted above BY Rich. push comes to shove , it someone wants to be technical about it I can always use the goo be gone and some fishing line and one can be taken off.
